HEARING CARE FOR CHILDREN

Within this text we have included an overview of the medical pathologies of childhood hearing loss and a background discussion of the effects of hearing loss. However, we have strived to provide an emphasis on the actual practice of pediatric audiology. Toward this end, we have included more in-depth coverage of the psychological impact of childhood hearing loss and the audiologist s counseling responsibilities for those most closely affected; the audiologist s role in the identification and assessment of hearing loss in children; methods employed to enhance the reception of auditory signals; and the audiologist s need to understand and interact within the remediation of children with impaired hearing
